Nap Ford Community School Operating Principles

The faculty and staff of Nap Ford Community School developed these Operating Principles based on our belief system and to serve as a guide for all who work, visit, and contribute to the success of the students at Nap Ford Community School as they strive to achieve excellence

  1. We believe Nap Ford is successful because we work and learn together with the same common goals.
    • We have overcome many challenges in our pursuit of excellence – together.
    • We don’t give up. We can’t fail because we never stop trying.

    • We always put the best interest of the child first.
    • We all have high expectations of our students.
    • We meet the challenges with the support of our colleagues.
  2. We believe that every child can learn when quality teaching strategies are implemented.
    • Each child is a unique learner.
    • Best practices keep students actively engaged.
  3. We believe very child can be a successful individual and demonstrate academic growth regardless of their background.
    • Students make healthy life choices with their mind, body, and spirit.
    • We help students overcome challenges presented in an urban setting.
    • We develop more effective ways to address our students’ needs and to ensure that we reach every child.
    • We differentiate instruction by doing daily interventions and enrichments.
    • We have a good understanding of previous years’ Student Narratives.
    • We develop a support system within our school community.
    • We provide more opportunities for family interaction and opportunities to gain valuable background knowledge of our students.
  4. We believe Nap Ford Community School is a model urban institution where we can make a difference in students, families and communities by going above and beyond in the classroom.
    • We show interests in the students’ interests outside of school.
    • We show support for major family changes and milestones.
    • We seek community involvement by teaching the importance of giving back through leadership and service.
  5. We believe Nap Ford students are unique in their background, with a variety of challenges and needs
    • Each child possesses a talent which is authentic with the potential for growth through quality education and nurturing of the mind, body and soul, making NFCS students a bright light of hope for the urban future.
  6. We believe our classroom environments are small, which makes it easier to provide individualized assistance for each student.
    • Students can be creative and express their talent through active engagement in learning.
  7. We believe that each individual can achieve his/her maximum potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
    • We focus on the whole child by providing a safe place for learning and developing mind, body, and spirit.
  8. We believe our colleagues are a professional family.
    • We are caring, dedicated, supportive, united, and actively engaged in the common goal to creatively educate our students and nurture each component of our school community.
